The Kalwun Early Learning Program is a free, stand-alone school readiness program based on the Early Years Learning Framework.

The program provides:

  • a warm, nurturing and safe environment that encourages the development of the whole child
  • a smooth transition into prep
  • the strengthening of cultural identity
  • qualified, experienced and caring staff to meet the needs of the individual child
  • a variety of experiences that are designed to promote and extend the child's development
  • a strong focus on planning experiences that are based on children’s current interests and strengths
  • a support network for families.

Where

The service is based at three locations:

  • Kalwun Child, Youth and Family Services - Burleigh, 14 Kortum Dr, Burleigh Heads
  • Kalwun Child, Youth and Family Services - Coomera, 9 Jowett Street, Coomera
  • Currumbin State School, 6 Philip St, Currumbin

When

The Kalwun Early Learning Program operates from 9.30am until 2.30pm during school terms. 

What you will need

  • Small backpack
  • Lunch box
  • Two pieces of fruit per day (morning and afternoon tea)
  • Nutritious lunch
  • One set of spare clothes (labelled)
  • Wide-brimmed hat (labelled)
  • Safe, comfortable shoes that are fully closed

Eligibility

The Early Learning Program is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children aged 3–5 years.
